brixworth windfarm
Welcome to the community consultation website for Brixworth Windfarm
We are planning a small windfarm consisting of six turbines adjacent to Harborough Road, between Brixworth and Hanging Houghton. If constructed the windfarm could generate enough energy from renewable sources to power the equivalent of up to between 5,872 and 8,364 homes [1].
The windfarm would help the East Midlands Region reach its renewable energy targets. It would also provide an alternative source of power, at a time when fossil fuels are becoming scarcer and the need to combat climate change is becoming even more urgent.

[1] Average domestic energy consumption. According to the DBERR's Digest of UK Energy Statistics 2006, the average domestic household uses 4,700 KWh of electricity annually; this project would therefore supply the equivalent of 5,872 homes on that basis. However, an Ofgem report dated 04.07.07 puts the annual domestic consumption per household at 3,300 KWh; on that basis, this project would supply 8,364 homes, assuming a capacity factor of 0.263.
